Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report
By Capt. Kris Kelley
Sponsored by: Mercury Marine; Air Ranger Airboats; Haynie Bay Boats; Baysport Marine Victoria; Castaway Rods; JL Marine; Pure Fishing; Corrosion X; and, Bob's Machine Shop.
Brisk mornings have brought out the jackets here lately and of course we'll be seeing more of that heading towards November. Fishing has been a little lumpy with up and downs typically associated with seasonal transitions. Slick offs have been something to navigate around strategically as the guides make there moves and time their approaches. Schooling Redfish have been getting pounded over mud/grass and back lakes while Trout have been harder to find.
Wade fishing produced Trout to 24" on live bait with artificial approaches not generating much success. Live shrimp has been available.
Flounder Gigging
Continues strong heading toward the onset of the run, season ends 10/31, dates available.
Castaway On the Bayou
We've razed an existing structure and have another sold to be moved on the new bayou property. Utility work is getting ready to start on the parking area and we are very close to getting the dirt flying! Come see us when you can!
