Back N Forth On Big Winds

Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report

Unsettled winds had us pushing back and forth between Trout and Redfish approaches with Redfish saving the day for many as always when the bays get rough.  Rain wasn't a problem despite some ominous looking skies at times.  Kevin H. said "I'm going to tell my guys to bring rain gear" but it wasn't needed. Capt. James Cunningham and Capt. Chris Cady bent the boards big time with Kevin's group taking Trout limits and solid numbers of Redfish hitting a window of stable winds late week.  Working big shell for Trout and then deeper mud/sand/shell for Redfish was the ticket with bait.  Winds ramped back up Saturday finding Tommy T. and wife along with the Chris T. group looking at Trout briefly on big water before retreating to protected Redfishing areas.

Alligator/Teal & Dove Cast & Blast

September 10th through the 30th marks the 2017 Texas Alligator Season with Dove and Teal seasons opening during that time.  This is a great time to experience the best of the Texas Gulf Coast.  Gator dates are getting tight as we fill in remaining weekdays, please contact the lodge to drill down on the calendar for openings.

Airboat Redfishing Trips

Capt. Chris Cady is looking for the gradual shift to North winds as a potential catalyst and game changer for Redfish in the back marsh as we start seeing the cool fronts heading our way.  As things evolve into a Fall pattern, the fish tend to school up in the far reaches of the back country and that's where the fun starts.

Flounder Gigging Report

Now is the time to think about adding a Flounder Gigging trip to your schedule in September and October as we start looking at the fish stacking up for the run and pre-run to the Gulf.
