Redfish piled up on low water fallouts in the back lakes mid-week which made for explosive action with plenty of fish holding tight in the back country. Water levels have been ranging plus and minus 12 inches with passing cold fronts. Capt. James E. has been riding the Trout pretty hard over mud/shell guts in ESB/SAB working Fire/Tiger and Purple/Chart paddle tails with 1/8 oz. jig heads.
Seadrift Duck Report
We've picked up a bunch of new birds and things are looking great heading into January. Word is the birds have been sitting near a mile offshore in the Gulf. That's from a reliable source that flew them with a plane a few days ago. I've wondered about that over the years watching birds heading what appears to be toward the beach. This is the first confirmation I've heard of birds sitting in the Gulf. Well, it looks like they decided it's time to feed and are shoulder to shoulder. That's great news and a great way to start the New Year!
Happy New Year to everyone!
