What a really nice stretch of gorgeous weather! Add some great fishing over the holiday week and life just doesn't get much better. We were booked solid for the holiday weekend with guests "choosing" to make Castaway Lodge their place to spend time with family and loved ones.
On the fishing scene scattered schools of Redfish and Black Drum bent the rods for most of our guests with Capt. James E. running into Trout over area shell reefs briefly. Gafftop are definitely starting to show up over shell reefs and that's a sure sign that Trout are soon to follow. Gulp's under a popping cork managed to fool the Trout to 22" while Redfish and Black Drum are still working on cut bait and fresh dead shrimp. Shallow bays and skinny back lakes have been the go to locations working mud pockets and emmergent grass beds.
We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend, come see us when you get ready to break away!
