Texas Coastal Duck Hunting
Snap back bull tides continue to be the only "mine field" we continue to struggle with as the Texas Coast continues to hold lots of sea water. No matter how strong the Northerly fronts are, any let up in the wind velocities and you can expect 10 to 12" of water to come rushing back.
That's a bit of challenge when you are working with shallow minded waterfowl that can sense "flooding" highs over night and completely abandon productive areas. This last weather presented opportunities that we were fully capable of "pressing" in excellent conditions for hot wing shooting.
The whipsaw in the equation came Sunday as winds deminished and we gained atleast 10" of water back which slowed the action considerably. We managed to time this just about perfectly.
Fishing News
If the forecast holds true, cast and blast combinations will have a shot at some pole bending coming up as we hit a mild weather and warming trend into next weekend. We never trust a forecast but we've got our eye on it.
